The Organisation of European Cancer Institutes represents 52 cancer centres across Europe. The ultimate objective is the development of oncology in Europe for reducing mortality and morbidity due to cancer and increasing survival and quality of life of the patients. The model of oncology is based on a global vision of the cancer problem emphasising the integration of research and education with diagnosis, prevention and care to promote the development of comprehensive and multidisciplinary organisation within the European Cancer Institutes.
Doctor Marco A. Pierotti
Dr. Marco A. Pierotti is the new President of the Organisation of European Cancer Institutes, Past President of the European Association for Cancer Research (EACR) and the Director of Experimental Oncology at the National Institute for Tumour Study and treatment in Milan. . He is also head of the programme of molecular genetics of cancer at the institute FIRC of Molecular Oncology (IFOM), where his main interest is the development of predictive techniques. Dr Pierotti is responsible for the Research Unit of the Italian Foundation for Cancer Research on 'Hereditary Tumours'.
Professor Ulrik Ringborg
Currently Past-President of OECI Europe, he was the Chairman of the Swedish Melanoma Study Group 1976-2003 and a Member of the Research Board and the Governing Body of the Stockholm Cancer Society. He is an honorary member, the Hungarian Cancer Society.
